Biography

I have been working in the biofeedback field for more than 10 years. First I trained in the LENS, low energy neurofeedback system. From there I learned about operant conditioning; EEG biofeedback, HeartMath (heart rate variability biofeedback), IM (interactive metronome) & HEG (hemoencephalography).

Once I had the ability to record 19 channel EEGs and generate normative brain maps I learned how to do z-score training, & ILF (infra-low fluctuation training).

In 2008, I began going to school to become a registered nurse as it was becoming evident that the field of biofeedback can be a bridge between mental & medical health.

In 2008 I also began using the pEMF (pulsed electro-magnetic field) treatment known as Neurofield. Although my practice at TetraNeuroNet is an integrated one; Neurofield is the primary modality I work with.

Part of being a good neurotherapist involves seeing your client and assessing which modalities would best suit their needs and goals. Often times an integrative approach works the best, drawing on a variety of modalities as a client grows and changes. With some clients I will do a series of one type of neurotherapy that is passive that gets them to a certain point in their development and then they are ready to go to the next level with braintraining. I have many tools that I am skilled in using to chose from. The fields of low energy stimulation and biofeedback are expanding very rapidly and I go to various trainings & conferences throughout each year.

I have been working part-time as an RN on an acute mental health unit for Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley in Kingston, New York for more than 3 years. Additionally, I have begun to work part-time at Riverview Psychiatric Medicine in Poughkeepsie, NY recording EEGs and doing neurotherapy & braintraining

In November 2015, I became board certified in neurofeedback by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA). Most recently, in July of 2016, I became certified by Neuronetics in TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation).

I began studying martial arts at the age of 15 and then dance at the age of 20. Movement has been a core passion in my life. It is easy for me to see the movement arts as another sort of braintraining. (see the book Spark) I initiated a dance program at a school for special needs and continue to study dance and movement therapy. In October of 2015, I began training with the Svetlana Masgutova Educational Institute for Neuro-Sensory-Motor and Reflex Integration, LLC. I successfully completed my first course in MNRI Tactile Integration and await the next opportunity to learn this important work.

I have a bachelors degree in Anthropology. Learning about cultural variability allowed me to see a wide beauty and deep diversity through the concepts of structure and function. This concept has carried over into biofeedback, neurodiversity, and my drive towards facilitating the optimization of each individual I work with.

Ideally, I see my role as helping people learn more about themselves and how to modulate their behavior. For a client, receiving objective real-time feedback during training is validating and empowering. For myself, as a neurotherapist, it is fun and rewarding.
